how it all started

I've been writing on the internet for a long time. Since 2004. However, this blog was created December 20th, 2007.

This blog used to be known as Sonny's Area, at sonnysarea.com. It was so from 2007 through 2013.

Sonny is just a little nickname for Sonja. Truth is, no one really calls me Sonny. It was Area because place was taken. To be honest, I never particularly liked the name "Sonny's Area."
Now it's Sonja Winter Heels. As self-centered as it sounds, I really like the way my name sounds. It's not a pen name, it's my name and I like it.

At first, my dad wanted all of the kids, (Me and my two older brothers, Sam and Ben) to get into writing and blogging. He created a "family" blog that no one knows about and no one can visit. cannonballshooters.com. It's locked, and you need to know the password.

After a while, Sam stopped blogging. Ben did it every now and then, but pretty much only when dad told him to. He eventually stopped, too.

In 2005, I started writing on my dad's blog. Not exactly the freestyle type I do on my own here. I wrote descriptions for domain names that he was selling. My dad owns several hundred domain names. I never liked doing that. Not my kind of thing, and I'll never understand why he wanted me to do something as mundane as that.
In 2007, I finally got my own blog. I'm planning to blog my whole life.

You may have noticed that my archives don't fall back all the way to 2007. Honestly, I hide a lot of my old stuff simply because I don't like it. I even hid one of my "I'm starting fresh again" posts just because it had such an angry tone to it, and I'm not proud of it. It was written during what I consider the worst year of my life, so that probably has something to do with it.

So, on that note, what you see is what you get. I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,
SWH

Side note: Ben is now studying music at University of Southern Maine, and is considering minoring in journalism. He started a blog not too long ago, BenHeelsMusic.wordpress.com, and he reviews albums and writes all about music. I'm incredibly excited for him.
